This Martin Custom Shop Style 17 Size 2 was built as a faithful modern interpretation of Martin’s legendary pre-war Style 17 instruments, prized for their direct, woody voice and incredibly fast response.

A mahogany top built to Authentic thickness is paired with mahogany back and sides, producing the dry, focused tone that made early Style 17 guitars the gold standard for fingerstyle players. Internally, the guitar features Golden Era scalloped Adirondack spruce bracing, allowing it to remain open and articulate with impressive headroom.

The neck was hand carved in the Custom Shop with a Modified V profile and 30s style heel, recreating the feel of original twelve fret Martins. Combined with the 24.9 inch scale length, slotted headstock, and wide spacing, the instrument feels remarkably close to a true vintage example.

Cosmetically, the guitar stays true to its roots with an Old Style 17 rosette, Style 17 Authentic 1931 fingerboard inlays, and elegant Madagascar rosewood binding, headplate, and endpiece. Relic Golden Age three on a plate tuners complete the vintage presentation while offering smooth modern performance.
