This is not just a Custom Shop instrument. This is a return to 1905.

Built as a tribute to one of Martin’s earliest and most unique pre-war designs, the 000-28/30 stands apart even among early Martins. It is a fascinating blend of styles, pairing the foundation of a 28 with Style 30 fingerboard appointments and upgraded tuners that were anything but typical for the time. The original featured a cedar neck, true to the era, and this build carries that forward with beautifully figured flamed Spanish cedar that adds another layer of character you can clearly see throughout.

That combination makes the original one of the most distinctive and unconventional pre-war Martins ever produced, and this build captures that same spirit.

That uniqueness is exactly what inspired this build.

It felt right to bring that idea back to life 121 years later, not as a copy, but as our own interpretation of something rare, transitional, and deeply important to the evolution of the guitar.

To do that properly, we went to the Martin factory and hand selected the woods ourselves. Sets that felt worthy of carrying this history forward. The result is a premium Adirondack spruce VTS top built to authentic thickness, paired with a stunning Cocobolo set that delivers both visual depth and clarity.
